Summary

Roman pottery sherds and tile fragments have been visible in this area since 1959. In 1984 a very heavy concentration of flint and brick rubble, as well as almost complete tiles with opus signinum fragments were recovered and wall plaster. Coins from the late 1st to 4th centuries have been recovered from the area, as well as brooches from the same periods. Metal-detecting in 2019 and 2020 recovered a range of Roman finds including pottery sherds, brick fragments, tegula and flue tile fragments, coins and brooch fragments.
