Summary

The church consists of a west tower, nave, north and south aisles, porch ,vestry and chancel. It is built of flint, brick, limestone and , interestingly, some re-used Roman stone. The building itself is difficult to date, having been extensively rebuilt in the late 19th century. The earliest visible work is the 13th century font, and broadly, the rest of the church seems to be of 14th century date, with the south porch being added in the 15th century. Having said that, late 19th century re-working completely changed the building's appearance. The interior of the church has carved bench ends of late medieval date, and an unusual 16th century ornamented chest that is currently in St Peter Hungate museum.

2003. Visited.
Possibly contains some Roman stone material (see above). Early English font. Otherwise basically a church of the first half of the 14th century. Belfry altered internally probably in 17th century; north aisle demolished before 1820. All totally remodelled in 1880s when north aisle rebuilt, tower heightened etc.
Interior contains some early post medieval woodwork and very good late 19th century woodwork.
