Summary

In 1807 a hoard of fourteen Roman coins stored in a pottery vessel was found. It was probably deposited about 395-400 AD.

Full Description

March/April 1807. North side of road opposite Carleton Lodge.
Hoard of 'four gold and ten silver' Roman coins found in a dark-coloured jar decorated with white wavy lines and impressed lines. Pot lost - described as olla.
