Summary

This was the site of the New Star Inn, which incorporated two separate buildings; a 15th century warehouse building and a 16th century timber-framed house, both thought to belong to the rich merchants who owned property in this area. The building was recorded in 1963 prior to its demolition, and excavation on the site recovered thick layers of oyster shells, medieval and post medieval sherds, as well as wooden piles and reeds near to the river.
