NHER 10486 (Find Spot record) - Roman and later surface finds from the south-western portion of the site of Roman vicus, Burgh Castle

This record describes the surface finds collected from the south-western portion of the site of the Roman vicus (NHER 49204) surrounding Burgh Castle (NHER 10471). See NHER 49204 for early cropmark evidence in this area which was previously recorded under this number. See also NHER 49203 and NHER 49205 for other undated cropmarks in this area. Some of the cropmarks visible on aerial photographs could date to the medieval period, when a motte and bailey castle was built within the Roman fort.
Two thirds of the site was scheduled in 1995, see (S1) and (S7).
