Summary

A medieval moat and associated roadway and outer enclosure features are visible as earthworks on an aerial photograph. These features have been surveyed and other internal subdivision and platforms identified. Medieval pottery fragments and building material have been found.

Moated site and earthworks south of Hall Farm.
Moat, rectangular, recently damaged on south side by dyking. Few medieval sherds recovered. Earthworks to north including street.

This site was later scheduled on NAU recommendation. Earthworks to the east of field boundary are much fainter on aerial photographs, and are not scheduled. Overlay indicates that some of the earthwork pattern is outside the scheduled area.

Medieval roofing tile fragment found at TF 9894 2980. Medieval pottery sherd (unglazed) and medieval floor tile (whole and unworn) with slightly undercut edges with thick glaze apparently dark green, found at TF 9894 2982.
