Full Description
Moated site and earthworks south of Hall Farm.
Moat, rectangular, recently damaged on south side by dyking. Few medieval sherds recovered. Earthworks to north including street.
A. Rogerson (NLA).
This site was later scheduled on NAU recommendation. Earthworks to the east of field boundary are much fainter on aerial photographs, and are not scheduled. Overlay indicates that some of the earthwork pattern is outside the scheduled area.
E. Rose (NLA).
April 1995. Earthwork Survey.
Moat and associated roadway and outer enclosure features and other internal subdivision and platforms mapped at 1:1000.
Medieval roofing tile fragment found at TF 9894 2980. Medieval pottery sherd (unglazed) and medieval floor tile (whole and unworn) with slightly undercut edges with thick glaze apparently dark green, found at TF 9894 2982.
Finds identified by A. Rogerson (NLA).
See (S1) for further details and plan. This site was included in (S2) and the survey is also noted in (S3).
B. Cushion (NLA) April 1995.
25 June 1996. NLA air photography.
Earthworks visible.
H. Clare (NLA), 23 August 2001.
