Full Description
1953.
4th century Roman coin found in farmyard.
R. R. Clarke, material not checked.
February 1977. Listed, Grade II.
Listing Description:
17th century. Rendered. Steeply-pitched black glazed pantile roof with gabled ends. Two storeys. Four windows. Two and three-light casements. Two doorways, one with pilastered doorcase with cornice. Central brick chimney stack.
Information from (S2).
South Norfolk District Council reports in 1981 that the building has two doors in the screens passage with spandrelled heads. The main upright beams have square 'pilasters' merging into expansions for the midwall beam and the wallplate. Suggestive of 16th century date. Ponds etc around the house suggest a possible moated site. [1]
E. Rose (NAU), 21 August 1981.
House inspected February 2000 by E. Rose (NLA). The site is probably not moated as the mouldings on the posts are only at ground floor level but this is indeed a very ornate 16th century house of screens-passage plan with original upper floor and stack.
See (S1) in secondary file.
E. Rose (NLA), 21 February 2000.
January 2012.
Two ponds are shown on (S3). They are not shown on (S4), suggesting they have been infilled.
D. Robertson (HES), 27 January 2012.
