Summary

A 17th century timber framed building that was encased in brick in the late 17th century (probably in 1672). It is two storeys high with an attic and a tiled roof.The façade has seven window bays with mullioned windows dating to the 17th /18th centuries. There is a 17th century timber framed rear wing. Inside is a fine 17th century staircase and moulded beams. In the grounds of the house is an early 18th century timber framed barn. This is thought to have been converted to residential use.

(S2) states; 17th century timber frame encased in brick in the late 17th century.
Two storeys and attic, tiled roof; gabled cross wing each end. Brick string courses, seven bays. 17th/18th century mullioned and transomed casements in arch openings. Offcentre pilasters doorcase. Large rebuilt offcentre stack. Rainwater heads dated 1672 which listing thinks is date of brick cladding. 17th century timber framed rear wing with mullioned window.
Interior has good 17th century staircase and ovolo moulded beams. At rear of front range are mutilated Ionic columns.
Within curtilage, but not listed is a timber framed barn; drawings suggest late date. Straight braces and knee braces; cart porch probably early 18th century. One end rebuilt in brick in about 1800.

Further examination of drawings suggests the barn began as a three stead building, indicated by the convex wallbraces, possibly 17th century, and was extended as a timber frame (straight braces) later, probably about 1700, by additional in line steads and the porch, before the brick section was built.
