Summary

This is the site of a possible medieval moat, of a depth of 1.5m to 2.5m, the western and northern ditches of which had been cleaned out to their original shape in 1989. About 1.5m of waterlogged greyish silt was recovered from the deepest part of the ditch, and some post medieval pottery was seen in this.

House now called Starston Grange.
Western and northern ditches cleaned out to original shape in boulder clay. About 1.5m of waterlogged greyish silt in the deepest part of the ditch. Total depth of ditch about 2.5m in northeast corner, 1.5m in south end surviving western side. Dumps of silt too wet to walk on, a few sherds of post medieval and recent pottery seen but not kept.
