NHER 11259 (Monument record) - Roman finds and possible features, site of post medieval kiln

1973 to 1974.
Ploughed Surface.
Dark soil areas containing oyster shells and finds; pits recently destroyed by plough?
Finds: Samian sherds, colour coated ware, mortaria, 2nd to 4th century coarse wares, domestic refuse. Fragment of upper quernstone found in hedge bank to east.

NCM card. This sounds rather like a duplication of site NHER 1684, but description is not exactly the same; have the details of two sites become confused? See notes on record NHER 1684.
Informant [2] states that quern and Samian were definitely found on site NHER 1684, not here, with other sherds, but he saw no traces of possible pits and and does not recall colour coated ware; so there may still be two sites.
