Full Description
'The Bodleian Bowl'.
Bronze bowl with tripod legs and handle now in Ashmolean. Said to have been found in a river in Norfolk 1693. Made in France 1267 to 1277. Inscription mentions Rabbi Joseph, famous in the Talmudic school of Paris. He died at Acre, so the bowl may have been brought back from the crusades.
Information from the Ashmolean Museum.
Seen September 1975 by E. Rose (NAU).
