Summary
The vill of Whimpwell is mentioned in Domesday Book of 1086. By the 18th century it had been deserted and today its location is unknown. It was not situated where the modern hamlets of Whimpwell Green and Whimpwell Street are and it is possible that its site has been lost to coastal erosion.

Mentioned in Domesday Book (S1). (S2) records it as 'vanished'.
The present villages of Whimpwell Green and Street are not the original site. It was possibly further to northeast and has been lost in coastal erosion.
