Before June 1971. Casual discovery.
Shallow trenching between driven piles revealed modern disturbance to a depth of 10m (3.5ft). Medieval floors beginning to appear at this level but the only material recovered, sherds of Grimston jug and 'fish dish', a Yorkshire ware aquaminile, see (S1) and 17th/18th century lead glazed earthenware and stoneware, came from the rubble above them.
