Before June 1971. Systematic observation and recording, Baker Lane, north side.
Sewerage works to the east of the excavated area (NHER 1219) produced evidence of massive and extensive disturbance. Unassociated finds included fragments of Grimston cooking pot and jug, one with a detached tubular spout, Yorkshire jug and 'fish dish', and a small sherd of Western French jug.
Narrow yards found in eastern part of site. This may relate to a documentary reference of 1318 cited in (S1).
