Summary

Local legend has it that there was a second church in Dilham, but that it was swallowed by the earth. The appearance in the 1990s of a large depression in the graveyard of the present church may point to the origins of this story.

According to local legend there was once a second church in Dilham, but it was swallowed by Seager-ma-hole (apparently a giant solution hole).
Information from (S1).

In 1995/6 a large depression 3m (10 feet) across and 0.6m (2 feet) deep appeared in the north side of the present churchyard (information from Parish Church Council) which may explain how the legend arose.
