Full Description
Cropmarks previously recorded as part of this site are now recorded under NHER 36134
General scatter of medieval pottery including early medieval ware over field north of church and spreading across road to east and into adjoining field to south. At TF 9580 1560 a concentration of early medieval Ware, lava quern, 2 flint scrapers, and bronze tag end (marked Context 1).
On edge of field to south 2 medieval sherds (Context 2).
On west edge of field east of road 1 medieval sherd and 3 others uncertain, probably medieval (Context 3).

Sample of medieval roofing tiles and medieval bricks, both of which are profuse. Lump of chalky fired clay, ?daub. Two pieces of shelly limestone, burnt (1 with mortar over fracture). 4 medieval unglazed including 1 Early medieval jar rim and developed bowl. 2 Glazed Grimston strap handles.

The ovoid enclosure cropmark referred to above (see 18 Feb 1994 entry) is the same feature that has been recorded as NHER 36134. It is now recorded only as NHER 36134.
