A type 28 Second World War pillbox (see above) can be seen as a structure on aerial photographs. (S2-S4). The pillbox was part of the defensive features for Oulton Airfield (NHER 7364). The feature can be seen as a structure on the 1940s aerial photographs (S2) and on the 2007 Google Earth imagery (S3). The pillbox is covered by vegetation on the recent (2020) aerial photographs (S4). It is most likely that the pillbox still survives under the area of vegetation.
The mapped extent of this structure has been amended from a point to a polygon [1].
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 07 March 2022.
