Full Description
22 September 1977. Visit.
Pill box, concrete, polygonal.
E. Rose (NAU), 22 September 1977.
Fairly common type 24 pillbox, slightly smaller than usual. On dunes facing inland. Date 1940/41.
See (S1).
D. Walker (NLA), July 1996.
October 2005. Norfolk NMP.
NMP mapping has led to the correction of the central grid reference of the site from TG 4667 2394 to TG 4676 2389.
The World War Two Type 24 pillbox described above is visible as an extant structure on aerial photographs taken between 1947 and 2002 (S2) and (S3). Its absence from earlier aerial photographs of the site, such as those taken in 1946 (S4), suggests that it had been camouflaged. During the war it formed part of a larger defensive site, NHER 42104.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 26 October 2005.
