Full Description
Founded in 1652 but doubtful if anything except some of the brickwork remains of that date.
January 1978. Visit.
In 1840 porch and polygonal angle turrets added, and windows gothicised. Stepped gables with finials appear to be also of this date. Box pews, gallery on three sides, fourth side pulpit-platform with Gothic Revival rail - all of 1840.
Derelict at time of visit.
In graveyard to west, brick shed which could be 17th century, now used as cowshed.
E. Rose (NAU), 25 January 1978.
(S1) 1983 states that some traces of a timber frame remain from 1652.
1994. Building Survey.
Full survey by [1] suggests that there were only timber posts supporting the roof in 1652 and not a timber frame. Otherwise agrees with above. Reused ovolo mullion noted in the brick shed.
See report (S2) and accompanying drawings for further details.
E. Rose (NLA), 22 November 1994. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 12 March 2015.
Restored as house before 1997.
Much of interior fittings had gone beforehand but what remained has been kept.
E. Rose (NLA), 18 April 1997.
Architect's drawings (1992 and 1994; S3) and newspaper cuttings (S4) in file.
Architects drawings (pre 1992) as large rolled plans (S5).
E. Rose (NAU).
(S6) Describes detailed description of chapel fittings and interior, plans and elevations and photographs of chapel exterior and interior ahead of residential conversion.
M. Langham-Lopez (HES), 15 October 2012.
