Pumphouse, at northeast corner Alder Carr, called Waterwheel Carr on estate maps.
Building of recent brick containing Smithdale of Acle pump of three chambers driven by fanbelt (rotting on floor) from piston engine, both connected by pipes to large upright tank.
Visited E. Rose (NAU) 22 March 1978.

Engine is an early 2HP Hornby hot bulb oil engine.
Both were supplied by Smithdale's in 1907, information from NIAS.
Engine pumped drinking water from well 1907 to 1932, when electric motor installed.
Superceded by RAF boreholes; used again about 1950 driven by tractor from outside.
