Full Description
April 1978.
Farmhouse, Regency, demolished.
Despite condition of permission that wrought iron porch and wooden fireplaces and doorway be preserved, latter have been destroyed and pieces of former are lying in a field.
On garden wall between house site and barns, two very large medieval gargoyles, presumably removed from church at restoration.
Very fine weatherboarded barn with two porches, tiled, tie beams on arched braces with sloping struts above. East wall of flint and brick dated 1667, other brick wall patches on east later.
E. Rose (NAU), 26 April 1978.
(S1) notes that some brick in rear wall of house seemed to be older, 16th to 17th century. Most building mid 19th century. Good cast iron staircase rails. 20th century extension. Demolished early in 1978.
(S2) refers to this as the parsonage house and barn - hence presumably the gargoyles. So barns tithe?
E. Rose.
15 October 1993. NLA air photography.
Site visible.
H. Clare (NLA), 19 February 2001.
September 2005.
Dated 1688 in moulded brick aedicule in east gable. Timber framed with weatherboard walls, brick and flint plinth. Pantile roof.
(S3).
D. Robertson (NLA), 12 Sepotember 2005.
