Summary

This post medieval house has two sections. The northern part is earliest and was built as a single celled timber framed cottage in the late 16th or early 17th century. The southern part is built of brick and flint and was added to in the mid or late 17th century.

April 1978.
Two storeys, flint and brick. Traces of old windows on northeast façade. Southwest gable wall has brick chimney and two pairs of small windows with brick mullions, set each side of stack: upper pair open, lower blocked. 17th century. Later extensions. Well restored.
There are several other cottages in the village that seem to have originally been similar to this, but were changed dramatically in 19th century.

Listing Description:
Early 17th century house extended or partially rebuilt in the mid 17th century. Brick and flint with pantiled roof. Two storeys with attic and single storey with attic to side. Three bays. Gable end stack. Window openings 19th century with 20th century frames. Front door 19th century. Original tiny two-light windows with brick mullions in gable. Modern extensions to rear. Angle roll moulded principal beams with jewelled stops in first phase. Chamfered beams with jewelled stops in later phase. 17th century chamfered door frame at first floor with original planked door. Three cell attic partially ceiled; chamfered principal rafters with collars and butt-purlins; original stud partitions.
