Summary

The foundations of the corner of a large medieval house were found in a garden in 1962. Also, ploughing in a nearby field turned up building material that may be part of the remains of the deserted medieval village.

1962. Manor Farm Cottages, Colveston. Foundations discovered in garden in digging soakaway.

Corner of substantial building 0.6m (2ft) deep; walls 0.6m (2ft) thick and 0.6m (2ft) high, of chalk, flint and mortar and traces of 'old fashioned thin bricks'. Masonry ploughed up in field on east.
Claimed to be part of hall of the Berners, which was said to be visible a century before.
