Summary

A flint platform found during ploughing at this site may be the foundations of Deopham Hall. Place name evidence suggest the building may have been surrounded by a medieval moat. Medieval pottery and brick and tile have been found here.

1978.
Distinct platform of flints with brick and tile fragments seen. According to landowner former site of Deopham Hall.
Seven glazed and unglazed medieval sherds and one medieval stoneware sherd collected.

December 1978. Visit.
When visited stubble had just been ploughed and platform was not at all distinct, only faintly visible.

1983.
Owner claims track now ending at 9572 1011 was the main approach; presumably Hall Lane to north joined it. (S1) shows field as Moat Pasture, but shows road system as now. Owner told Norwich Survey staff that he 'always strikes foundations in ploughing here'.
