Full Description
14 and 15 Purfleet Street.
December 1951. Listed Grade II.
In 1976 repairs to roof [of 15 Purfleet Street] showed that it had previously been mended by insertion of horizontal struts on level with loft ceiling. Mortice holes in old timbers show that roof originally had scissor-type cross beams halfway up the side. No evidence of king posts.
Photographs by R. Trett (KLM).
The building is listed as 17th century. Exterior is Georgian and later, of no interest, as noted by E. Rose (NAU) 2 November 1977.
Compiled by E. Rose (NAU). Information from record card (S1).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 11 April 2023.
Listing (S2) dates this building to the early 17th century 'possibly timber framed' and includes No. 14, but states interior not inspected.
