Full Description
Vague cropmark of subrectangular enclosure seen on 1946 RAF air photograph.
A. Gregory (NAU).
January 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Faint cropmarks of some form of enclosure are visible. These can only be made out on the RAF 1946 aerial photographs (S1), and still they are quite hard to distinguish. The enclosure however does appear to be more oval/oblong than sub-rectangular in shape (it measures approximately 55m by 32m and is centred on NGR TF7173 4249). There are also possibly additional rectilinear features associated with it. These rectilinear features are less certain than the enclosure, particularly the west side, which looks like it might link up to something in the crop. Also some additional linear features/ ditches that were apparent correspond with field boundaries on the 2nd edition OS (S2), and therefore have not been mapped. The date and origin of these features are unknown.
In addition, in the field just to the north of this site (at NGR TF7170 4273) there are some cropmarks of about six pits which are quite strange in appearance. The origin of these are unknown. They have not been mapped.
H. Clare (NMP), 26 April 2002.
