Summary

A deer park was noted at this location on a 1586 map. Ashill's 1581 map shows a park somewhat to the west and southwest of what is now Park Farm, and northeast of Panworth. It is however not possible to transcribe the area of the park directly from this onto the modern Ordnance Survey map.

Location

Map sheet TF90NW
Civil Parish SAHAM TONEY, BRECKLAND, NORFOLK

Map

Deer Park, existing in 1586 when map was made of it.
Presumably in area of Park Farm.
Note OS still mark area TF 92 04 north of High Banks as 'Saham Park'.

LNA has copy of a map of Ashill of 1581 (really same as '1586' map?) which shows 'Same Park' somewhat to the west and southwest of what is now Park Farm, and northeast of Panworth. It is however not possible to transcribe the area of the park directly from this onto the modern Ordnance Survey map.
E. Rose (NLA) 30 November 1994.
