In front (east) of Hethersett Hall (building of 1810).
Stone wellhead?, about 1.5m high and 1m diameter.
Carved with very fine Early Romanesque decoration, two opposing lions with one head, interlaced foliage with birds pecking berries, and small animals. North Italian? or South French?
Said to have been left by a former owner.
Seen by E. Rose (NAU) 8 November 1978.

Victoria & Albert Museum confirms North Italian style but says 19th century imitation (from photographs).
