Summary

Fieldwalking here in 1978 recovered sherds of medieval and post medieval pottery as well as post medieval bricks, tiles, glass vessels and iron objects. The most numerous sherds were unglazed and of medieval date.

Finds are Context 2, grid reference TM 1802 9134. Context 1 = remainder of field, finds identified by A. Rogerson (NAU) in 1988 but very probably in fact the same as Context 2 finds. They are:
Sixty-five medieval unglazed including base with bitumous deposit.
Ten medieval glazed including one probable Grimston.
Thirty-seven late medieval/transitional. One probable Dutch late medieval glazed.
Twenty-six post medieval mostly glazed red earthenware. One Westerwald.
Various post medieval brick, tile, vessel glass; disintegrating iron objects.
Finds held by NCM.
