Summary

A series of Iron Age pits were excavated in 1954. The skeleton of a child and a pig were found together, as well as other human and animal remains, prehistoric flints and Iron Age and Roman pottery. Medieval pottery and a medieval strap fitting have also been found on the site.

1951. South of Caley Mill.
Excavations produced pottery, animal bones and human remains.

October to November 1954.
Excavation (1424/c1) revealed 8 Iron Age refuse pits with pottery of 'A' tradition and flints.
(S1), (S2), (S3) and plans in file. (No plans found 2000; this is probably a mistake)

Bear included in NRC Bulletin (S4) was a mistake!

Early Roman pottery (2 body sherds and 1 base) and 1 Glazed Grimston ware body sherd.

Early 1988. Found with Roman and medieval sherd at same time (though not listed in above entry), found by [1].
Copper alloy sheet belt mount in form of quatrefoil with hollow underside and 2 iron rivets, later medieval.
