Summary

Five pits were observed in a sewer trench in 1967 during the construction of a new road. The pits contained Iron Age and medieval pottery and animal remains.

1967. New road constructed in meadow south of Church Lane.
5 pits observed in sewer trench.
2 contained oyster shells, pig and sheep bones, 2 fragments of heavily corroded iron, and Iron Age sherds. The other 3 were full of domestic refuse including oyster shells, animal bones and medieval pottery including a ?14th century green glazed Grimston ware handle.
