Summary

It is recorded that an Early Saxon urn, decorated with circular punchmarks including cruciform-in-circle stamps, was recovered from a pit, probably near the station.

Date unknown. Found upside down in worked out gravel pit at Silfield (altered from Suffield); empty.
5.6 inches (14cm) high, 4.5 inches (11cm) diameter, 6.3 inches (16cm) medial diameter, grey, gritty fabric. From drawing in file showing part of a Early Saxon urn decorated with circular punchmarks including cruciform-in-circle stamps.
No card or other information found.
Pit referred to is probably one of the group south of Wymondham station. 1984.
