Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting in this area between 1978 and 1995 recovered undatable prehistoric and potentially Mesolithic worked flints; post-medieval pottery sherds, post-medieval glass and clay pipe fragments; a medieval coin and a medieval copper alloy cauldron leg.

December 1978. Fieldwalking.
Surface collection from field:
Mesolithic flint flakes, some backed, slight retouch; 2 thick patinated flakes from which several long geometric blades had been removed (called Mesolithic by NCM).
2 post-medieval pottery sherds (1 mottled brown German stoneware, late 17th century and 1 Black Basalt Wedgewood, late 18th/19th century), 1 glass fragment (red, ?19th century), 4 fragments of a broken doll's body (German, 1890s) and 1 clay pipe fragment (mask from clay pipe bowl, ?19th century).
1 undatable human canine tooth.
