Full Description
Leper house.
Situated 'on Hardwick Dam at Setchey Parva in South Lynn, a causeway leading from Hardwick to Lynn'. In use in 1318; destroyed by fire 1477 or before.
(S1) quoting (S2) and (S3).
However Hardwick is in area TF 63 18, and the Dam is the A47 now; but Setchey Parva is at TF 615 140. Is there some confusion here? Or has the name wandered south to the latter point?

(S4) explains the matter - the land belonged to Edmund Bedingfield, the Lord of the Manor of Setchey Parva. The leper house was burnt down in 1477, when Edmund Bedingfield granted the site of the Hospital of St Lawrence to John Norris, the vicar of All Saints' church. (S4) also notes bequests to the lepers of Hardwick by Margaret Frenghe in 1352 and Stephen Guybon in 1434.
