Summary

A prehistoric irregular discoidal macehead made from quartzite was discovered here when a dyke was being dug in 1979. These objects are not closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts. Subsequent metal-detecting in 2023 recovered a medieval coin and a medieval/post-medieval jetton.

Found whilst digging dyke at [2]:
1 prehistoric irregular discoidal quartzite macehead with 'hour-glass' perforation. Donated to the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1979.93). See sketch (S1). Information from (S2).
Probably what would now be described as a pebble mace. These objects are not closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts.
