Map

1977.
Cropmark of infilled moat? Cropmark of rough oval (with north side missing owing to disturbance beside road) very wide dark mark. Suggested as infilled moat by D. Edwards (NAU)
Medieval sherd.

1977.
Medieval rim sherd found here by [1].

May 1980.
It indeed looks very much like a huge barrow, but it is far too big and almost certainly a moat.
North ditch is visible on ground as well as others. Under silage crop. Landowner says he has always believed this to be a moat, a predecessor or outer court of site NHER 6713 (latter very doubtful but former quite possible).
E. Rose, 13 May 1980.

1982. Earthwork Survey
Survey by NARG. Further medieval sherds found.
See report (S1) for plan and further details.
E. Rose (NAU) 29 March 1983. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 2 March 2015.

February 2006.
Site under arable. Nothing remains of the moat as described in (S1). Slight undulations may have been discussed in 2001.
H. Paterson (A&E), 7 March 2006.
