Summary

Between 1936 and 1941 several worked flints were found in this field, include an Early Neolithic leaf arrowhead and laurel leaf and a Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowhead. Fieldwalking in 2003 recovered Mesolithic flint blade cores and a range of undatable (probably late) prehistoric worked flints, including cores, flakes and scrapers and other retouched flakes.

Found R. F. Parrott in old O.S Field 233 ("Back of farm, Fengate"):
1 Early Neolithic leaf arrowhead and 1 laurel leaf.
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged flint arrowhead.
Listed in Parrott Catalogue and (at least for a time) held by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1961.142).
Seen and identified by F. Healy and listed in (S1).

Small area at southern edge of field examined by [1]:
3 undatable prehistoric flint scrapers, 1 borer, 8 notched pieces/concave scrapers, 3 miscellaneous retouched pieces and 4 unmodified flakes.

Strip at western edge of field examined by [1]:
2 Mesolithic flint blade cores. See drawings (S2).
6 undatable (probably later) prehistoric flint cores, 1 hollow scraper, 1 notched flake, 3 miscellaneous retouched flakes, 4 ?scrapers on thermal flakes and 23 unmodified flakes.
