Full Description
Site of 'Temple' (landscape feature) marked on (S1).
E. Rose (NAU) 7 June 1979.
This was the terminal of an avenue extending beyond the park in 1750; the park was extended to include it in 1755.
See (S2).
September 2025. Northwest Norfolk Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AI&M) Project.
Earthworks of banks and ditches are visible on visualised lidar data (S3) in the vicinity of the post medieval garden temple described above. These earthworks are recorded as part of a larger group of predominantly pre-park earthworks (NHER 69437) within Docking Park but the elements at this location could relate to the former garden structure. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the earthworks still survive.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 9 September 2025.
