Summary

A mid 19th century five storey tower windmill, last used in 1916. It was converted to a house in about 1920 and restored in 1968/9 when the cap and sails were replaced. The attached granary was raised and converted to residential use in about 1920. It was originally two window bays wide but had a third bay added during the conversion. The mill was again fully restored in 1997-8.

Full Description

Wind mill.
Used as house; retains sails; struck by lightning January 1978. See newspaper cutting (S1) in file.

A tower mill built 1840 to 50, last used in 1916.

Listing Grade II (S3) describes mill as of five storeys, with cap sails and fantail. Windows on each floor to east and west and former door on second floor south. Restored by [3].

Attached house of two original bays and added third bay, two storeys.
Added bay is timber framed and jettied. About 1920.

Door and doorway reused, probably from Merton Abbey, Surrey.
