Map

Site of Holt wind mill.
Marked on (S1), 1797.
E. Rose (NAU), 6 September 1979.

A post mill burnt down in 1794. Information from [1].
E. Rose (NAU), 10 February 1982.

Reference (S2) refers to discovery of wall paintings at Letheringsett watermill (site NHER 6525) of a windmill 'believed to be that which stood on a hill above the town'. No windmill marked by (S1) except Holt mill which could be the one meant. Reference states the mill was rebuilt 1795 and completed 1802 which would fit with the above mention
of the mill being burnt down in 1794; but it is not entirely clear from the reference that it is the windmill and not the watermill which is meant; the watermill was also rebuilt in 1802.
Reference in file under NHER 6525.
E.Rose (NLA), 8 February 1995.
