Full Description
25 September 1979. Meadow on west edge of valley.
East and north boundary field marked by flint cobble wall in places with medieval brick.
Wall joins northeast corner of churchyard.
Ground to east and north slopes down abruptly to valley bottom. Seven small medieval and three post-medieval sherds found along east edge in cow-disturbed soil. Also a flint flake.

Informant states this was the old wharfage area before the creek was filled in, and that an iron ring for tying boats remains.
The area is marked as Mill Hard on a map of 1586, see reference (S1).

2008. Test pit.
In 2008 a test pit excavated by the Higher Education Academies recovered a wide range of post-medieval pottery with the majority being German stoneware and Whiteware and Dutch Redware. Sherds of early medieval Sandy Ware and Grimston Ware were also recovered from the lower contexts.
