'The traces of an ancient Causeway, commencing near the Church at Burgh and running in a southeasterly direction are discoverable for several miles. Called the Jews Way on Old Surveys...doubtless of Roman construction'.

Later, Woodward, and then Bryant, expand this account to suggest the Jews Way as a coastal Roman road running from Caister on Sea to Brancaster.
