Full Description
'From Coronation Avenue, Dersingham'.
Polished stone axe. See (S1).
Petrology N61, Greywacke (S2).
Established that there is no road in Dersingham by this name.
E. Rose (NAU) 26 February 1976.
26 May 1977.
Implement seen in Sandringham Estate Museum. Bears label saying 'Coronation Avenue, now King's Avenue, Dersingham'. However the Dersingham postmaster is adamant that there is no King's Avenue in his area either. Could this perhaps be the official name for the road running north from the Norwich Gates, marked by Ordnance Survey as 'The Avenue'?
E. Rose (NAU)
Kings Avenue is the road running from Sandringham to Anmer Hall.
E. Rose (NAU), 26 May 1977.
Probably same as: 'A polished axe of dark grey feltstone was found by Dr.Manby on the King's estate on the 'Ailesway' near Dersingham. The 'Ailesway' runs parallel with 'Peddar's Way' and joins it above Westacre' (S3) and (S4).
R. J. Rickett (NAU), 1 March 1990
