Summary

In 1973 a post medieval pottery skillet was found in a trench at this location. It was made from a coarse red fabric with a lead-glazed dark brown exterior. One of the three legs was missing.

April 1973. Found beside bypass. 1.2m (4ft) deep in workmen's trench.
Pottery skillet, 12cm high, 12.7cm diameter mouth, hollow cylindrical handle 1.4cm diameter at mouth; base diameter 10.5cm. Red coarse fabric, lead-glazed dark brown exterior, bright orange inside. Two legs, third is missing.
