Map

February 1980.
Timber framed late medieval/early post medieval house, plastered over. Various small windows arranged haphazardly, some under eaves. Apparently two or three different builds or repairs.
E. Rose (NAU), 6 February 1980.

(S1) describes as 17th century, brick faced with parapet gable at west end; some small four light ovolo mullioned window. Apparently the same as the 'Primrose Hill Farm' mentioned in Tivetshall Out of the Past (Tivetshall school 1982) as 'around the 16th and 17th centuries; a small window fitted with horn has been preserved'.
Child's shoe around 300 years old found in brickwork of one of the inglenooks.
E. Rose (NAU), 2 March 1987.

Detailed examination shows a complicated building history. The eastern section seems a standard lobby-entrance house of around 1600, though with some details that might suggest an earlier origin; the west end by contrast appears as a medieval open hall of two bays later floored over – yet the eastern section has former gable windows blocked by the western section. Can the latter have been moved from elsewhere? However modern décor still obscures much of the interior; further work awaited.
(S2)-(S3) in file.
E. Rose (NLA), 27 October 2006.
