Summary

This is the site of a post medieval brickworks, shown on an Ordnance Survey map of 1836. The bricks made at this site may have been used to build Wolterton Hall, NHER 6711.

13 May 1980. Visited by E. Rose (NAU)
Large pit, grassed over with many hummocks. No trace of structures.
The Wolterton Estate manager claims this was where the bricks were cut in the early 18th century to make the Hall.
However there is also a Brick Kiln Plantation at TG 1555 3100, but he says there are no remains there.
