A cropmark of a ring ditch, probably a Bronze Age round barrow, is visible on aerial photographs (S1), (S2) and (S3). This cropmark is centred on TF 7016 3587. The ring ditch has a circular plan with a 3m wide ditch and an external diameter of 29m. It is likely that this ring ditch is of Bronze Age date and that it relates to a round barrow. Internally a pit-like circular cropmark with a diameter of 15m is present. It is possible that is a large pit or depression within the ring ditch or that it represents a greater depth of soil over the former barrow mound. The ring ditch lies at the top of a north facing slope at approximately 37m OD. Other ring ditch cropmarks are present to the east and south forming a dispersed group (NHER 43392, 43394-6, 33599).
J. Albone (NMP), 16 March 2006.
