A series of undated but probably medieval or post-medieval linear ditches, some of which are forming a possible enclosure, visible as cropmarks on 1977 Norfolk Landscape Archaeology oblique aerial photographs (S3). These features are ploughed flat and appear as cropmarks. The majority of the features are aligned in an approximately east to west direction, with shorter lengths aligned in a north to south direction (S3). There is a potential irregular to sub-rectangular enclosure at TF 6298 1630, with a north to south length of 15m and a width of 12m, although this identification is not and part of the feature may actually be formed by the cropmark of a palaeochannel. These features are probably part of a strip field system, laid out relation to the alignment of the precursor to Main Road, and probably date from the medieval or post-medieval periods. The westernmost of the east to west features is less regular then the others, and may actually be the cropmark of a palaeochannel.
M. Brennand (NMP), 6 June 2003.
