Summary

In 1980 a dense concentration of prehistoric flint pot boilers were found in an area of dark sooty soil located here. These discoveries probably represent a prehistoric burnt mound and were revealed during work associated with the laying of a pipe trench.

August 1980. Immediately south of Town House Road. Found on surface stripped for digging Ministry of Defence pipe trench.
Dense concentration of pot boilers (hundreds per square metre) in dark sooty soil over area about 5m diameter.
