Summary

A rectangular enclosure was identified from aerial photographs taken in 1976. Metal-detecting between 1997 and 2024 has recovered Late Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval to post-medieval tokens; medieval and post-medieval jettons and a range of other, Early Bronze Age to post-medieval and undated metal objects. These finds include an Early Bronze Age flat axehead; a Late Iron Age brooch; a Roman brooch; a Roman or medieval decorated lead spindle whorl; a Middle Saxon stylus; a Middle Saxon/Late Saxon strap end; a potentially Late Saxon/medieval furniture fitting; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval sword pommel, rotary key, horse-harness pendant, horse-harness fitting, spur, thimble, dagger quillons, purse bar, copper alloy and lead mounts, lead pot mends, lead papal bull seal and lead ampulla; a potentially medieval lead weight; a medieval/post-medieval purse bar, book clasp, harness mount, Jew's harp, unidentified copper alloy object, copper alloy rings, copper alloy vessel fragments, and copper alloy and lead weights; post-medieval book clasps, spurs, crotal bells, furniture escutcheon plates, coin weights, belt or harness mounts, purse fragments, a harness mount, sword chape, spoon, pin, copper alloy ring, copper alloy and lead weights and lead cloth seals and undated copper alloy rings, lead weights and lead weights or spindle whorls.
